Every home we create is a reflection of the people who live within it — thoughtfully designed, beautifully detailed, and unique to your lifestyle.
From concept to completion, each residence is an enduring statement of individuality, meticulous craftsmanship, and refined luxury, with every detail designed to leave a lasting impression.
The existing site was generous in size with rolling countryside and woodland to the rear. A particularly complex constraint was that the street was considerably higher than the ground floor of the existing property, with the site plateauing far beyond the rear elevation. Creating a home that nestled into this topography was to be the main challenge.
By incrementally addressing the sloping site externally and splitting the mass into two primary elements, the internal level changes were kept to a minimum. The impressive entrance area is flanked by wings that accommodate the client’s desired spaces whilst playing with the external view and managing the internal level changes. The glazed front selectively grants glimpses into the home and through to the sweeping vistas of the surrounding landscape.
Characterised by its solid form, modern materials, and double-height spaces, this home embraces the surrounding landscape and invites natural light to flood the home. The contemporary dwelling harmonises with its setting through the materials used and achieves the client’s dream of a unique one-off home.

We are here to guide you through every stage of your project, answering any questions to ensure your vision becomes reality.
The key stages of a one-off home project include: an initial consultation, concept design, planning permission, technical design, tender/construction planning and finally the build itself. These stages are outlined in the “plan of work” produced by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) often used as an industry standard guide to help Architects, Contractors and Clients effectively understand the stage of their project.
Each project presents unique challenges and restrictions, often referred to as site constraints or parameters, which can include complex planning regulations, specific topographical or environmental factors, and intricate structural requirements. Common hurdles include securing planning permission in sensitive locations, navigating technical design complexities, and adhering to rigorous building regulations. At Scroxton & Scroxton, our multidisciplinary approach allows our team to quickly identify these constraints during the initial feasibility and assessment stages. By addressing these challenges early, we are able to develop effective, compliant
